Help Save Manassas to Protest U.N. Envoy’s Visit to Prince William County

Manassas, VA: "Mexicans Without Borders" has invited "United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Migrants" Jorge Bustamante to come to Prince William County on June 10 and 11 to investigate its policies with respect to illegal aliens and how those policies are enforced. His task is inherently political, as the DC Examiner described it in a recent article:

"Special rapporteurs are tasked with reviewing human-rights issues of international concern to raise political pressure and shape public opinion"

Bustamante is anything but an objective investigator. A year ago the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations released a twenty-one page rebuttal in response to a report he issued, and decried him coming with preconceived views and ignoring factual information that conflicted with those views. Bustamante advocates permanent dual-citizenship for Mexican immigrants in the United States, open borders, driver's licenses for illegal aliens, and demands that Mexico have a voice in determining what our immigration laws are and how they are enforced. He has even gone so far as to organize a boycott against American companies that support efforts to enforce our immigration laws.

"This visit is an absolute outrage," remarked Help Save Manassas President Greg Letiecq. "The United Nations has absolutely no moral or legal authority whatsoever that would permit them to interfere in the affairs of Prince William County. We afford illegal aliens in Prince William County a higher standard of human rights than the majority of members of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights treat their own legal citizens. Compounding this intolerable affront are the clearly biased motives of Jorge Bustamante, an open borders extremist who has a documented problem with distinguishing truth from fiction."

Help Save Manassas and other groups are organizing a protest on June 11 at the location of Bustamante’s meeting with Prince William County Board President Corey Stewart.
